FBSD tips:About

It started when I decided to organize some of the more common and complex pieces of advise I hand out on ##freebsd on freenode. I started by keeping links in a text editor open on the same screen as my IRC client, but this is clumsy. I have wanted to get my feet wet with mediawiki for a while and this seemed like an oportunity to do that. This is not meant to be a complete treatment of any subject, or an expert opinion, just stuff I have found useful and thought I would "pass along". I personally prefer small "building blocks" that are immediately useful, widely applicable and avoiding addressing only a specific case or being so interconnected with other examples that you can't test them quickly for your self.

It seems to be getting some use as a support vehicle for me in ##freebsd, and several others have asked for a publishing login (I am pleasently surprised). So i thought I would define some procedures. I want contributing authors to put their work in Main -> Contributors -> USERNAME -> ARTICLE_NAME, I will link it in to the main indexes (which need serious re-working at this point). Everyone sould edit their own work, and no one elses (except at a request or when agreed upon). This way copyright remains clear (I will see what I can do about addressing this is the notice of the edit page). I am seriously tickled pink at the contributions I have recived, thanks to everyone! BUT I am the last word on what gets linked or even put up. Not that I am looking to exercize this, but it must be stated. I will include author attribution when linking from the 'main' indexes. For instance, an example in Opinion / Editorial :

Why /usr should go - by Helio

I link to the article and the author page. The author page is your own, use it as merely a place to put your articles, or a description of yourself as well, what ever you like.
