Users are not Salesmen
From FBSD_tips
What's the difference between FreeBSD and Linux?
Why would I want to run FreeBSD instead of Linux?
Does FreeBSD support webcams?
Why should I download FreeBSD instead of Linux?
I heard FreeBSD is faster/better/more secure, is this true?
Most people who idle in IRC channels are not salesmen. Most of the developers are not salesmen. We aren't there to convince you that you should use something, we're there because we want to be. We aren't going to flat out lie to you to get you to use FreeBSD, and those who try will usually be given a firm thwacking by appropriate parties.
Try it, Use it. Asking people's opinions will never help you to choose, because they don't know the conditions. They don't know what applications you may run, whether you will like using it, or whether you like decisions developers may have had to make. They also don't know exactly what you are used to, so they don't know if you'd even get past the first screen of the installer.
I use FreeBSD because I like it, and I've been able to do things with it I simply can't on other systems. But I won't waste my breath evangelizing it for a user who's browsing, and I won't put on my best fake smile and outfit to try to sell it to you like a schmuck at a used car dealership.
